In the upcoming period, square Susan Sontag in the heart of Sarajevo will get a new look. The staircase at the main entrance of the National Theatre will be paved, and part of the content are new lightings, benches, billboards and landscaped green space on the square.
For the arrangement of the square was acquired all project documentation or necessary permits and approvals. The preliminary design prepared by the architectural firm Idea Ltd. was completed, and the Department for the Protection of the FBiH has given the necessary consent.
Conceptual design is based on a sketch of the famous architect and urban planner, Professor Juraj Neidhart, and it includes pavement of the entire square and sidewalk from the street Branilaca Sarajevo, Obala Kulina Bana and Kulovica Street with granite slabs. As part of this project was planned a partial extension of Branilaca Sarajeva Street.
Reconstruction of the square is of great importance for the local community and its citizens.
From the National Theatre Sarajevo noted that the square Susan Sontag is a heart of Sarajevo and that his arrangement will make happy not only those who visit the National Theatre, but also citizens of Sarajevo.
The tender will be announced in March, or after the adoption of the budget of the central Sarajevo municipality.
