Ten people were arrested after the riots that took place just before midnight on Saturday night in Mostar between two larger groups of people. One person was transferred to University Clinical Hospital (SKB) of Mostar due to serious bodily injuries, as the spokesman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), Ljudevit Maric said.

“On Saturday, April 24th, at 11.20 p.m. in Silica Sokak Street in Mostar, public order and peace were disturbed to a greater extent. There was a fight in which several people, hooligans, were included. Various objects, batons, pieces of wood, as well as pyrotechnics were used in that fight, ” told Maric.

With the quick intervention of the police officers of the Mostar Police Department (PD), public order and peace were brought under control.

“Ten participants in the violation of public order and peace were taken to the Mostar PD, and one person was transferred to SKB Mostar due to serious bodily injuries,” said Maric.

He confirmed that material damage was caused to one family house.

Police officers of the Mostar PD, together with the Criminal Police Sector, are conducting a criminal operational investigation and work in the field in order to determine all the circumstances of this event.

A group of hooligans, members of the Zrinjski fan group, “Ultras”, clashed in the Mostar settlement of Donja Mahala with several locals and several members of the Velez “Red Army” fan group.

The sports fans used pyrotechnic devices, and there was also a physical confrontation. The incident happened around midnight, well after curfew which started at 9 p.m.

The duty prosecutor was also informed about the whole situation.

A match between Zrinjski and Sarajevo was played in Mostar on Saturday, and the hooligans briefly interrupted the match when they threw torches and smoke bombs over the fence at the stadium, BHRT writes.
