At yesterday’s session, the Central Election Commission (CEC) confirmed the results of the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) held on October 2nd this year.

After the Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH rejected the appeals related to the repetition of the elections for the President and Vice President of the Republika Srpska (RS), the CEC confirmed the final results of the elections.

13 appeals were submitted to the Court of Appeal of BiH against the decisions of the CEC of BiH on determining the election results, and 11 more appeals to the Appellate Department of the Court of BiH against decisions related to requests for recounts. All 24 appeals were rejected or dismissed by the Court of BiH.

The election results for all levels of government voted for in the 2022 General Elections have been confirmed. The decision to confirm the results of the General Elections was made unanimously.

Moreover, the member of the CEC, Vanja Bjelica Prutina, who was the only one who voted against determining the results of the elections, said that as a lawyer, she thinks there are certain uncertainties regarding the decisions of the Appellate Council, but that as a legalist, she will vote for the adoption of the results of the General Elections.

Confirmed results are available to the public on the website of the CEC of BiH, http://www.izbori.ba.

The CEC of BiH informed all candidates who won mandates in the 2022 General Elections, and who decided to reject the mandate they won, that they can personally sign the Declaration of Rejection of the mandate at the headquarters of the CEC of BiH (Danijela Ozme 7, Sarajevo) if they want the CEC of BiH to award replacement mandates before holding the constitutive sessions of the authorities in which they won the mandate.

With this decision of the CEC, the saga related to counting, recalculation, and numerous appeals related to the regularity of elections has officially ended.

Furthermore, the CEC will now have the obligation to delegate candidates in accordance with the legal regulations related to national representation in the National Assembly of the RS (NARS), and the CEC will also have the obligation to allocate delegates to the House of Peoples of the Federation of BiH (FBiH) if it happens that a certain number of delegates are missing after cantonal assemblies vote.
