The Chamber of Commerce of Belgium and Luxembourg opens in BiH

The solemn opening of the Chamber of Commerce of Belgium and Luxembourg in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held on Wednesday in co-organization with the Diplomatic Office of the Kingdom of Belgium in Sarajevo.

It is a unique initiative in our region, as this is the first and only Chamber of Commerce of Belgium and Luxembourg in the Balkans. There are only thirty chambers of commerce of these two countries in the world, and the significance of this initiative is even greater for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Head of the Diplomatic Office of the Kingdom of Belgium in Sarajevo, Benjamin Sturtewagen, emphasized that this is a big step towards stronger economic ties between BiH and Belgium and that it is a continuation of the initiative supported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium, Hadja Lahbib, during her visit to Sarajevo last month.

The President of the Chamber Andrija Zovko said that their goal is to establish and develop cooperation with Belgian and Luxembourg institutions and companies.

“We want to connect our entrepreneurs, educational institutions, artists and other public and private workers with partners in Belgium and Luxembourg. We also know that many companies from both countries are interested in entering our market, but so far it has been very sporadic. Now we are here to make it easier and contribute to the development of cooperation and business,” said Zovko.

General Director of the Chamber, Fabio Casula, presented the Chamber, and the sectors and industries of potential business cooperation with Belgium and Luxembourg.

“The Chamber already has several projects underway, and in the coming months we will talk with relevant institutions and companies that are active in the fields of environmental protection and renewable energy sources,” added Casula.

The Chamber of Commerce of Belgium and Luxembourg in BiH will have three regional offices – in Sarajevo, Ljubuški and Banja Luka.
