Rector of the University of Sarajevo Rifat Skrijelj and representative of the consortium IMAR Urban Consultants, Khalid Abdulrahman Othman Hassan signed a Contract for Revision of the Library Project Performance and Supervision over the Construction and Equipping of the Library of the University of Sarajevo.
The value of the project is estimated at 22 million USD, and the funds were provided by the Saudi Fund for Development. The construction of the library will take place on the campus of UNSA, and its capacity will occupy 15,500 gross square meters and it will be able to store around million books.
The idea for the construction of this library was created back in 2010, and the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to BiH, Hani Abdullah M. Mominah, intensified its implementation.
He expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the realization of this project will finally start, and it will benefit not only the students of BiH, but also students from the region. He added that students will have the opportunity to become more active in the field of science and to further build BiH.
“BiH has real potential for development and we will do our best to help the progress of this country,” stated Mominah, and added that the signing of this contract represents another proof that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia offers its full support to friendly country of BiH.
Rector Skrijelj noted that the Contract for Revision of the Library Project Performance is very important to UNSA, Canton Sarajevo and the state of BiH.
After the technical formalities regarding the announcement of tender, the construction of the library should start in 2019 and it will last for two years. The creator of the project is Prof. Dr. Adnan Pasic, project manager of the Unit for the implementation of the Project of construction and equipping of UNSA library.
