Almost all entity and state officials in the last few years predicted that Corridor 5C through Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) would be completed by 2028 at the latest, but now it turns out that it will not happen before 2031.
Such predictions were made by former State Minister of Finance Zoran Tegeltija, former Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalic, relevant ministers, etc.
The most complex part of the corridor is the Prenj Tunnel between Konjic and Mostar, the construction of which has not even started yet.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) just selected the consultants for this project a few days ago.
The Prenj tunnel will be about 11 kilometers long and one of the longest of its kind in Europe, and represents the most complex part of the entire corridor through BiH. Its construction will last for years, and it is expected that the other sections will be completed in the meantime.
What is interesting is that the EBRD stated in the announcementabout the tender winners that “the planned completion date is April 7th, 2031″.
Therefore, according to the official assessment of this bank, the final deadline for this tunnel, and therefore for the completion of Corridor 5C through BiH, is much further than all the predictions made by our officials in the past years, Biznis Info reports.
