The Formation of the CS Government is conditioned by the Ambitions of Individuals

The formation of the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Government is not going smoothly, mostly because of the ambitions of individuals. This primarily refers to the ambitions of those who are currently cantonal ministers.

NiP, SDP, NS, SBiH, and For New Generations have a comfortable parliamentary majority and could have formed the government a long time ago. However, this did not happen due to the fact that the formation of the CS Government was conditioned dominantly by the formation of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and to a lesser extent by the formation of the state government.

Moreover, some current cantonal ministers intend to be ministers in the FBiH Government. However, they are not ready to step down from their current functions until it is definitely decided that they will be ministers at higher levels of government.

In addition, it is not acceptable for them to remain cantonal ministers, so that they may later take over functions in the entity and state executive power. This means that they are not acceptable to reconstruct the government because the previously mentioned can only be achieved by reconstructing the government.

The big difficulty for NiP, SDP, NS, SbiH, and For new generations are HDZ’s demands. One of the demands is to keep the ministries in the Government of FBiH in which there are currently ministers, which also applies to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which they want in the SDP. It is not impossible for the HDZ to hand over this ministry to the SDP, but with maximalist conditions.

Difficulties in the establishment of government were caused by friction between NiP, SDP, NS, SBiH, and For new generations. Certain officials of these parties are dissatisfied with this, considering that the establishment of government should not be conditioned by the ambitions of individuals.

What makes it easier for the aforementioned parties is that they are not time-limited in the formation of the cantonal government. This is made possible by the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly of the CS, which means that the current convocation of the Government of the CS can be in a technical mandate indefinitely, Klix.ba reports.
