American basketball player Blake Griffin, who has not played in the NBA since last season, announced today that he is ending his career at the age of 36.
“Basketball has given me so much that I have no regrets,” Blake wrote on social media.
The six-time All-Star was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers as the first pick in the 2009 draft, but missed the first season due to injury.
He wore the Clippers jersey until 2018 when he moved to Detroit. After that he played for Brooklyn, to spend the last season in Boston.
Despite the ups and downs of his career, Griffin has repeatedly written on social media that he is grateful for his NBA career.
“All of these experiences have made my 14 years in the league truly memorable and I can’t help but feel grateful,” Griffin said.
During his NBA career, Griffin averaged 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists. His best season was 2013/2014. when he averaged 24.1 points, with 9.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists, and which he finished in third place in the fight for the MVP award.
