Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported receiving death threats following an armed attack on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

“Today the Slovaks showed us an example of what to do with Donald Tusk,” Tusk shared a screenshot on the X social network.

“There were many like this yesterday,” added Tusk.

In the news of the “Virtualna Polska” newspaper, based on an unnamed official from the Polish state protection service, it is stated that the number of Tusk’s bodyguards will be increased as a precaution after the assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Fico.

Fico was shot multiple times while addressing supporters in front of a cultural center after a government meeting in the mentioned Slovak city.

Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kalinak said Thursday that doctors spent the night “fighting for his life.”

In the shooting, which rocked the peaceful town 125 kilometers northeast of the capital Bratislava, at least four shots were fired, wounding Fico, and prompt action by security forces.

A 71-year-old man is suspected of the attack and is in custody, and the authorities are still determining the motive for the attack.
