The President of Italian Senate Pietro Grasso Visited BiH

pietroThe President of Senate of the Republic of Italy Pietro Grasso payed an official visit to BiH yesterday and will participate on the Conference of the Presidents of Parliaments of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII) on April 23, which is organized in Neum by BiH, which is currently presiding over the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative.

Grasso, accompanied by Ambassador Ruggero Corrias, held an official meetings with the Chairman of the House of Peoples of BiH and the Chairman of the House of Representatives of BiH Bariša Čolak and Šefik Džaferović, Members of the BiH Presidency and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić on April 22.

Focus of the talks was the European initiative and efforts of new governments in BiH to commence socio-economic reforms as soon as possible, which citizens expect and Europe demands.

Italy, the founder and supported of AII, whose Secretariat is located in Ancona, actively contributed to design and adoption of EUSAIR, which was adopted by the European Council last November.

The Strategy, which the EU member countries joined – Italy, Greece, Slovenia and Croatia, and Balkan candidate countries and potential candidates (BiH, Serbia, Albania, Montenegro) offers various possibilities of regional cooperation and progressive harmonization with the European regulations, Embassy of Italy in BiH stated.
