A complete highway from Banja Luka to Doboj could be opened for traffic in the month of August, as stated by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Nedjo Trninic.

The completion of the section Drugovici-Prnjavor in the length of 25 kilometers is expected this summer, and thus the RS will get a total of 106 kilometers of highway. Moreover, Minister announced new projects as well – the construction of a highway from Banja Luka to Prijedor, a section of the highway from Vukosavlje to Bijeljina, as well as the beginning of the construction of bridge at Sava River near Gradiska.

The completion of the highway section from Drugovici to Prnjavor will enable further development of the RS, but it will also connect Banja Luka-Prnjavor and Doboj, as stated by Minister Trninic.

Minister also explained that the RS is planning to realize numerous other projects when it comes to the construction of road infrastructure and that the funds collected from the new Law on Excises would make a significant contribution, but they are blocked. He also announced negotiations with Chinese partners on the construction of a sections of the highway from Banja Luka to Prijedor, i.e. from Vukosavlje to Bijeljina.

“These two projects are priorities for the Chinese and I hope that we will reach an agreement and realize at least one of these two projects through the continuation of negotiations with them during next week,” said Minister Trninic.

The construction of the loop in Rudanka represents the first phase of the Corridor 5C and the RS will not give up on that project.
