Bosnian-Herzegovinian midfielder Miralem Pjanić plans to retire from football after a period playing for CSKA Moscow, according to local media.
According to them, Pjanić has decided to end his career at the army club from Moscow, which will be the last phase of his sports career.
Rumors about his possible transfer to the Cypriot Aris have been denied as unreliable, and it is clear that there is nothing to it.
Pjanić joined CSKA in September 2024 as a free agent, and the 33-year-old Bosnian player’s contract with CSKA runs until June 2025 and there is currently no indication that it will be extended.
Since his transfer, Pjanić has played 12 matches for CSKA, in which he has registered one assist.
Pjanić began his career in Metz, France, and later wore the jerseys of giants such as Lyon, Roma, Juventus, Barcelona and Besiktas. While playing for Juventus, he was considered one of the best midfielders in Europe, which earned him a major transfer to Barcelona in 2020 for 60 million euros.
However, leaving for Catalonia also meant a major decline in his career, as he found himself out of favor with coach Ronald Koeman at the Nou Camp.
Pjanić played 115 games for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, scoring 17 goals and providing 29 assists, and he said goodbye to the Dragons’ jersey in May of this year, Klix.ba writes.
