The Slovenian Army sends Aid to Gaza with its own Forces

On Monday, August 18, the Slovenian Armed Forces delivered the first shipment of humanitarian aid for the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza using a Spartan C-27 transport aircraft. The aid, consisting of food and blankets, was sent via Jordan and comes from the material reserves of the Ministry of Defense and the Slovenian Armed Forces.

The decision to send the aid was made by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on August 6, and the total value of the package, including transportation costs, is estimated at 879,490 euros.

This is the third aid package that Slovenia has sent to the residents of Gaza affected by the war between Israel and Hamas.

The first shipment from the Cerklje ob Krki military airport was accompanied by Defense Minister Borut Sajovic, who emphasized that Slovenia’s responsibility is to help civilians in the war zone. According to him, basic necessities are being sent to the devastated Gaza so that people have something to eat and something to keep warm.

He added that for the first time in history, the country has been involved with its own military capabilities, with the Spartan C-27 aircraft set to transport all the planned aid in three flights by the end of August.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dramatic.

After Israel’s attack on Gaza, the number of Palestinian victims is increasing, most of whom are civilians. The population is facing shortages of food, water, electricity and fuel, while hospitals and health facilities are on the verge of collapse. Hunger and the spread of disease are further endangering women, children and other vulnerable groups.

Slovenian aid arrived at a military base near Amman, where it was received by the Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Jordan, Ari Haider Isa Murat, Klix.ba writes.
