The health institution “Ljeciliste Gata” is located in an ecologically healthy environment at a distance of 18 kilometers from Bihac. The accommodation capacity of this institution is 90 beds, and the number of patients who come for therapy often exceeds that figure.
About two to three thousand patients pass through this health facility annually. This thermal resort has the second highest quality water in Europe, right after Vichy in France, which has been confirmed through tests.
“We use two springs, one of which reaches a temperature of 39.1 degrees and the other which ranges between 37 and 38 degrees, and we use it during the summer period. We do not use the third, slightly cooler spring whose temperature is 34 degrees,” says the director of the health institution of ”Ljeciliste Gata”, Aida Ibrahimpasic.
They are financed in two ways – through the Health Insurance Institute of the Una-Sana Canton (ZZO USC), which through its commission sends patients for treatment based on indications of illness, and through self-financing patients who want to undergo therapy in this institution.
“The Health Insurance Institute of the USC, in addition to the contract with the health institution Gata, also signs a contract with the ‘Reumal’ Spa in Fojnica in the value of about 200,000 BAM, with the fact that it was originally intended that patients who need cardio rehabilitation, which they do not have in Gata, would go to Fojnica, as well as children with developmental disabilities, and everything else should be done in Gata,” explains Ibrahimpasic, who is a doctor specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
As she said, it is not clear why doctors are sending patients to Fojnica who can be treated in Gata, thereby depriving the canton of funds that could have been directed to this health institution.
“This water can treat everything from musculoskeletal, rheumatic and dermatological, to gynecological and even gastroenterological diseases. It is a universal medicinal water that can be used for the treatment of many diseases,” emphasizes Ibrahimpasic.
They plan to further invest in the building through the renovation of the interior and the purchase of equipment. They recently renovated the entire roof, which has not been replaced since the institution was built. The project cost about 200,000BAM and was financed by the USC Government through the Ministry of Health, Klix.ba reports.
