There are over 150 Millionaires in BiH’s City of Zivinice?

The information published recently, that there are more than 150 millionaires in Zivinice, caused a real storm of reactions in the public.

This information was presented by dr. Samir Vildic, President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation of Entrepreneurs in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). According to him, statistically (that is, as a percentage of the population), Zivinice has many more millionaires than Berlin, that is, it has the same number of millionaires as Cologne.

”The comments of businessmen from Zivinice were that there is much more in Zivinice than this number and we know that this is so,” Vildic explained.

These data especially caused a lot of comments on social networks. While some citizens believe that this data is realistic, others think that the number is excessive for a city the size of Zivinice.

It was investigated how accurate this information is.

At the beginning, let’s say that – while a large number of places in BiH remain deserted – the Municipality of Zivinice records a positive trend of population growth in the last five decades. According to the data of the 2013 population census, a total of 57,765 inhabitants were registered in the area of the Municipality of Zivinice, which is 5.4 percent more than the number of inhabitants in 1991.

Although there are no recent official data, it is believed that the number of inhabitants has increased significantly since 2013 (according to some estimates, there are now about 70 thousand inhabitants).

The city is known for its business-friendly environment. For example, according to data from 2021, you can open a business in Zivinice in two hours, and get building and urban planning approval in three days. Therefore, it is no coincidence that a large number of domestic and foreign companies operate in the Ciljuge 2 industrial zone, among which are serious investors from Austria and Germany.

In addition, the residents of this city are known to be enterprising and many of them are engaged in private business. Also, the drive through Zivinice shows that it is a town with good purchasing power, given the huge number of shops offering all kinds of goods.

In research, the most important information that was found wascertainly that there are as many as 110 companies in Zivinice that have an annual revenue of one million BAM or more (according to data for 2022). There is approximately the same number of companies that have funds in the mentioned amount.

Of course, when it is said “millionaires”, those are not people who have a million BAM in cash, but those who have total assets of that value.

A company with an annual turnover of one million BAM is not necessarily worth that much on the market. The value of the company also depends on other factors, such as assets, debts, profitability, etc. Likewise, a company with a smaller annual turnover can be worth over a million BAM, if it is healthy and highly profitable. At the same time, it should be emphasized that some companies have several owners, that is, behind some of them are several millionaires.

This data is certainly a key indicator that indicates that there are more than a hundred people here who can be called millionaires, just by the value of their companies.

Furthermore, not all millionaires are millionaires thanks to companies. Some base their wealth on other types of assets, most often on real estate. There are a large number of luxury properties in Zivinice, many of which were built in recent years.

When all that is taken into account, the conclusion is that without any exaggeration it can be said that at least 150 millionaires live in this city, but that number is very likely much higher.

Finally, this is a list of the 10 largest companies in Zivinice by total revenue in 2022:

Alfe-Mi – 85,814,290 BAM ; Profine BH – 79,017,885 BAM ; Omega – 78,461,015 BAM ; Disk – 61,885,827 BAM ; AFT Bosnia – 47,977,042 BAM ; Elsta Mosdorfer Bosnia – 43,701,116 BAM ; Sonra – 34,437,119 BAM ; Star-center – 22,503,075 BAM ; Aden – 20,833,349 BAM ; Deceuninck – 16,781,559 BAM, Biznis Info writes.
