Musician and founder of Grand Production Sasa Popovic passed away on March 1st after a short and severe illness. Popovic spent his final days in a hospital in Paris, and he passed away surrounded by his closest family.

His friend told Serbian media what the musician’s final moments were like.

Namely, on his deathbed, with the last atoms of his strength, he said to his wife and children: “I love you and I’m watching over you from heaven.”

“He knew it was the end. Suzana held his hand tightly. You know, these are difficult moments to recount everything to you,” said Popovic’s close friend.

She then described how Popovic’s final days unfolded.

“I know that doctors from the hospital called Suzana and gave her the difficult news that the end was near and that they had done everything in their power. Everyone immediately bought tickets for Paris and traveled to France. There was hope, there was a chance that he would be saved and live to old age, but things suddenly changed. He was feeling better at the end of last year and the beginning of this year. He even went out a bit between treatments and saw dear friends. He also went to Belgrade Waterfront a few times. However, in the last few weeks, his condition suddenly worsened. One of the treatments he received there, which extended his life for a few more months, was gamma knife radiation. Because of the terrible pain he had in the last two days of his life, Sasa was given strong medication,” she said.

It should be recalled that Popovic was being treated for stomach cancer for less than a year. He passed away on March 1st at the age of 70. He will be buried tomorrow, March 6th, at the Bezanija Cemetery in Belgrade, Klix.ba writes.
