The Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) ended 11 days ago, but some impressions of the most exciting week of the year still linger. Among other things, the best photo of this year’s edition of the festival has been selected, and the victory went to the town of Stolac.

This year as well, as part of the SFF, the “Best Photo” (Naj fotka) prize game was held, and all fans of photography and the festival could participate in it.

Among other things, the goal, as in previous years, was to immortalize a part of the atmosphere from the festival, whether it was recorded on the red carpet, the summer cinema, the Festival Square itself or another location associated with the festival. Participants sent their photos during the event.

This time the victory was won by Salih Borozan from Stolac, and in the photo, he revealed, is his long-time friend.

“The photo shows my friend Ajla Brkic, whom I have been photographing for 7 years in my project ‘Small Town Charm’. I mostly show some distant and beloved areas and locations that I notice and see,” explained Salih.

He has been professionally engaged in photography for 12 years, while before that he captured moments with his mobile phone. The winning photo appeared on the official Facebook and Instagram profiles of the SFF, where Salih also received congratulations.

He also admitted that he entered the competition quite by accident, and that even for him the victory was a surprise.

“Ajla and I came specifically to SFF, to experience the festival atmosphere of Sarajevo. We stayed out until 3 a.m., exploring the streets. As always, I had a camera in my backpack and spontaneously took a few photos, wanting to convey the warmth of the crowded streets,” he said, talking about how the idea for the photo came up.

Salih said that he was delighted by the atmosphere in our city for these seven days.

“It was great, the atmosphere was what you would call ‘warm&welcoming’. Wherever we were, we felt the famous Sarajevo spirit of diversity and acceptance of everyone,” he added.

By winning the award, Salih, besides a wonderful experience at the festival, now also received a memory that he will always remember, and there is no doubt that after this he will be happy to come to our city again.
