Today marks the 28th anniversary of the murder of 69 Serbs in Skelani, near Srebrenica. On that occasion, a memorial service will be held for Serbian victims in the last war from this and neighboring villages.

The commemoration, which will be held at 12:00, will be attended by the Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska, Radovan Viskovic.

It should be reminded that on this day, 28 years ago, members of the Army of RBiH under the command of Naser Oric killed 69 people, and two thirds of the victims were civilians, including several children.

The youngest victim was five-year-old Aleksandar Dimitrijevic, and his brother Radislav was 11 years old. On the same day, 165 locals were wounded.

During the last war, 305 Serbs were killed in this and other villages in this area, and more than half were civilians, women, children and the elderly.

Oric was put on trial and eventually acquitted in October 2017. Subsequently, the prosecution managed to overrule this decision and secure a retrial. The chief prosecutor said the verdict was based on “imaginary evidence” and accused the judge of delivering a different version of the verdict compared to the written document.
