Representatives of 31 countries gathered in Jajce yesterday, where 35 World Championship in fly fishing will be opened.
This great event brought together about 200 participants and the same number of guests.
The president of the Executive Committee of the World Championship, Djordje Klepić, said that all preparations have been completed, trainings are finished and the participants are satisfied.
Klepić explained that, according to the rules of the World Sports Fishing Federation, the fishing competition must take place on four rivers and one lake. This competition will be held on the river Sanica in Ključ, Sana in Ribnik, Pliva in Šipovo, Vrbas in Donji Vakuf and on the Pliva Lake near Jajce.
„The organization that involved engagement of the mayors of the five municipalities is very successful, and besides fishing it promotes tourism as well. In the last month, representatives of ten countries came to this area for training. This is a great promotion of our country, because there are only few rivers like this in the world. I visited a dozen World Championships, and trust me that this kind of water cannot be found anywhere. Everyone is amazed, and there is plenty of fish as well, “said Klepić.
Organizer of the event is the Sports Fishing Association of B&H, and the host is the royal town Jajce with the cities of Donji Vakuf, Sipovo, Ribnik and Ključ. The championship will last until the 21st of June, and almost 400 officials as a coach, referee and official representatives confirmed their arrival. The importance of this sport in all parts of the world shows the fact that, among others, the national teams of South Africa, Australia, Chile, Mongolia, Malta, Italy, Portugal, Spain, the Czech Republic as well as the countries of our closest region: Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro applied for the competition.
