The trade sector in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina generated 36.74 billion BAM in revenue in 2025, representing an 84 percent increase compared to 2016, according to a business analysis of the sector conducted by the Financial-Information Agency (FIA).

At the presentation of the analysis in Sarajevo, attended by the Federal Minister of Trade Amir Hasičević and FIA Director Faruk Hadžić, it was highlighted that the sector employs 89,191 workers, accounting for nearly a quarter, or 24.2 percent, of all employed persons in the FBiH, and that the sector’s total net profit amounted to 1.79 billion BAM.

It was noted that wholesale generates more than half of the total revenues in trade, while exports account for only 2.6 percent of total revenues, indicating significant room for growth and strengthening competitiveness.

Hasičević stated that he expects enhanced cooperation with the FIA, given that the ministry he heads is in the process of digitalization and that such reports are highly important as they facilitate monitoring the implementation of certain laws.

He added that based on the analyses conducted by the FIA, the ministry will compile an overview of the entire sector, along with all laws and bylaws.

Hasičević emphasized that he will discuss cooperation with the FIA leadership on establishing registries, particularly regarding the law on internet shopping, which is currently in the pre-draft stage.

Hadžić stated that the FIA possesses the most comprehensive data for the Federation of BiH from the financial statements of business entities, which are submitted annually.

He announced the possibility of cooperation with the line ministry on maintaining platforms they currently have or plan to establish, in order to get the best possible picture of the situation in the Federation.
