According to the analysis of the Directorate for Economic Planning and based on the available short-term indicators for the period January-October 2018, it can be concluded that the trend of growth in the overall economic activity in the country continued.

Due to the increase in electricity production in 10 months, industrial production increased by 2.4 percent. However, in the last few months, the weakening of the export-oriented manufacturing industry was noticeably weak, which recorded a negative growth rate of 0.8 percent.

As stated in the information on macroeconomic indicators for the period January – October 2018, Directorate for Economic Planning, states that the growth trend within foreign trade continued. Exports and imports of goods increased by 8.9 percent, or 7.6 percent, which increased the trade deficit by 5.5 percent in nominal terms.

“However, it is worth pointing out that real increase in these foreign trade indicators were somewhat modest as a result of the increase in export and import prices in 2018.”

“Currently available indicators of the domain of public finances for the period January-October 2018 also indicate a continuation of the growth trend of economic activity in BiH. This equally refers to the increase in public revenues from direct and indirect taxes. According to currently available data in this period, registered increase in direct tax revenues of 9.2 percent was registered in BiH, while net indirect tax revenues increased by 8.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year,” Federal News Agency reports.
