As stated, apart from activities that are to be implemented regarding the increase in the volume of passenger traffic through the expansion of destinations in European countries, preparations for the launch of cargo traffic will also be intensified.

“The cargo traffic that has been planned earlier, should be realized in 2016 following the resolution of administrative issues. We intend to handle 74 cargo flights regarding the export of goods of animal origin, which will enable a significantly faster development of agriculture at the territory of the Tuzla Canton and the entire region. Negotiations with representatives of airlines from Turkey are in the final stage and should be completed with the signing of contracts by the end of February,” said Rifet Karasalihović, director of the Tuzla International Airport.

In comparison with 2015 when259.000 passengers have been transported, the director expects 307.000 passengers or 18 percent more passengers to be transported in 2016.

Karasalihović expects the greatest progress in case of investments in infrastructure. Planned works include the access lights that will enable the airlines which are to operate from the Tuzla Airport to safely land and take off under the conditions of reduced visibility.

Moreover, the relevant ministry announces the implementation of the project of reconstruction of the access road to the Airport, which is in terrible condition.
