donationTwo mobile health clinics for maternal care, first of its kind, were today handed over to the Clinical Center in Tuzla and public health institution “Dom zdravlja” in Doboj. The mobile health clinics worth 100,000 USD were funded by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) and are designed and procured by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) through the UN Floods Recovery Programme “Danas za nas” to address the maternal care needs of women in rural and remote areas of Tuzla and Doboj regions which were severely hit by last year’s floods.

“This donation is a larger UN Flood Recovery Programme worth close to 100 milion BAM. The Programme is intended to restore essential sevices to the citizens who lost a lot during the floods. That include schools and health facilities. Today we have supported nearly 19 schools and about 17 health centers.“, said Zahira Virani, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in BiH.

Mobile clinics are equipped with the gynaecological table, mobile ultrasound and all other necessary emergency lifesaving equipment that will ensure access to maternal (pre and postnatal) care for women including and safe delivery.

“Health Center in Doboj received a tool to be able to get closer to primarily women, where preventive examinations on the field can be done, besides considering the equipment vehicles can serve with and for other purposes.“, said Dragana Bogdanić, RS Ministry of Health.

It is expected that at least some 3,600 women will benefit from these mobile clinics per year.
