Tuzla International Airport exceeds the annual Plan

Tuzla International Airport (MAT) has exceeded the annual plan for the number of passengers in 2022. MAT Director Dževad Halilčević points out that a total of 480,000 passengers traveled through Tuzla Airport last year.

“The record is still in 2019, but November and December 2022 are better compared to 2019. The busiest was November 2022, with around 50,000 passengers registered,” said Halilčević for FENA.

From November 1, 2022, cooperation with Ryanair has been established in the winter flight schedule, while WizzAir has its two base planes at MAT.

“The company Ryanair operates in three destinations, namely Vienna, Memmingham and Stockholm, while WizzAir operates in 14 destinations. We have a contract with Ryanair until 2024 and with WizzAir until 2025,” said Halilčević.

The number of transported passengers might have been higher if the pandemic rules had not been in effect until the middle of 2022. However, MAT management has even more ambitious plans for 2023.

“We plan to service around 600,000 passengers. We will try to fulfill it,” emphasizes the director of MAT.

The management of the Tuzla Airport is conducting talks with other airlines, and the possible expansion of the flight network is being discussed with the current partners. All this must be accompanied by the infrastructure, and the procedures related to the construction of the third departure gate are currently being completed.

“That project is important to us, as is the completion of the atrium and parking lot. There were certain mistakes in the earlier period, but we are trying to correct those mistakes and bring all the works to an end,” underlined Halilčević in his statement for FENA.
