Two mine workers were found dead in mine on Friday evening in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH’s) city of Srebrenica, located 130 kilometers northeast of the capital Sarajevo.

After more than 10 hours of digging, the bodies of two miners were taken from the jam pit in the “Boxit” mine, the spokesperson of Zvornik police department Miljan Bobar confirmed to local media on Friday.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. local time when more than 50 cubic meters of material from the roof of the preparatory corridor crashed on 44 and 30 years-old- miners, Bobar added.

The competent inspectors carried out the investigation and it is expected that additional investigation will show whether there have been certain omissions contributing to the accident.

After the accident, president of Government of Republika Srpska, one of the entities, stated that he personally knew two workers and worked in the same company and that their death is irreparable loss for the families and company.
