U.S. Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack to Visit Maglaj and Doboj

cormackU.S. Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack and USAID Mission director David Barth will visit Maglaj and Doboj on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. During their visit, Ambassador Cormack and director Barth will visit the renovated factory of a Maglaj- Energotehnika and farmer beneficiaries of a USAID’s Flood Recovery Initiative. At the end of the visit, Ambassador Cormack will make a statement to the press.

Following events will be open to the press:

On Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 13:45, Ambassador Cormack will visit to Energotehnika.

The factory was damaged by the floods and the stop in production impacted sub-contractors, employing a total of 285 workers.  USAIDs FIRMA project provided a grant to purchase raw materials (steel pipes) in the amount of 40,000KM.  USAID also proposed Energotehnika as one of three companies to be sponsored by the American Chamber of Commerce.  AmCham successfully raised 20,000 KM for each of the sponsored companies.

At 15:30 o’clock, Mrs. Cormack will do the Site visit to flood-affected dairy farm

Location:  Donji Bradići village (enter village from the main road close to Natronka).  Visit to flood-affected dairy farm of Mr. Šefik Ridžal.

Ambassador Cormack will be walked through Mr. Ridžal’s barn to see the impact of USG’s assistance and speak with him and other local farmers about the challenges they face.
