The Prime Minister of the Canton of Sarajevo, Nihad Uk, met with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, during his visit to Sarajevo. The meeting was also attended by the mayor of Sarajevo, Samir Avdić, and the focus of the conversation was on improving cooperation in the fields of environmental protection and tourism.

An exchange of experiences and best practices in the fight against air pollution was agreed, with a special focus on models and instruments that London has successfully applied in improving air quality.

“The experiences that London gained under the leadership of Mayor Khan represent a valuable source of knowledge for Sarajevo. We have agreed on the exchange of experiences, best practices and concrete instruments that can contribute to our efforts to provide citizens with a healthier and better living environment,” said Prime Minister Uk.

During the meeting, the possibility of more intensive cooperation between Sarajevo and the C40 Cities network was discussed, through which the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina could additionally benefit from the experience of the world’s leading cities in the implementation of climate and environmental policies.

A special segment of the conversation was dedicated to tourism. The interlocutors assessed that the continuous growth in the number of visitors from London and the United Kingdom confirms the increasing recognition of Sarajevo as an attractive tourist destination, and opens up space for new joint projects and a stronger connection between the two cities.

Prime Minister Uk thanked Mayor Khan for his openness to cooperation, as well as Ambassador Julian Reilly for his hospitality and organization of the meeting, stressing that Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina have sincere friends in London and the United Kingdom.
