The Minister for Europe and North America in the Government of the United Kingdom James Cleverly and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Bosnia and Herzegovina Matthew Field met today with the President and members of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The main topic of the meeting was the organization and implementation of the General Elections in BiH in October 2022, with an emphasis on the challenges facing the Central Election Commission of BiH.

The projects implemented by the Central Election Commission of BiH thanks to the direct or indirect support of the United Kingdom were discussed, as well as future joint activities, the CEC of BiH stated.

During a meeting with members of the BiH Central Election Commission, Minister Cleverly announced a new project to be funded by the United Kingdom with the aim of improving the current level of public confidence in the integrity and fairness of the election process. Namely, it is a matter of procuring special stamps that will be used for the verification of ballots, which aims to prevent election manipulations and fraud.

The President of the Central Election Commission of BiH, Suad Arnautovic, thanked the delegation for the continuous support of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Central Election Commission of BiH.

Special thanks were extended to Ambassador Field, to whom this was also a farewell visit to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
