According to the indictment of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Tuzla Canton, the Supreme Court of FBiH announced a final verdict of conviction for two Ukrainian citizens, Dmytro Boiko (42) and Oleksandr Zaitsev (61), for the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offense of computer fraud and sentenced them to prison terms of 6 years and 10 months each.

As a reminder, they were accused in the indictment that at the end of January and the beginning of February 2020, together with five other citizens of Ukraine, as part of a group for organized crime, in several cantons and cities in the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, using various sophisticated computer tools and programs, they accessed ATMs of Sberbank BH dd Sarajevo at 24 locations from which they took large sums of money, and obtained illegal property benefits for themselves and other members of the group in the amount of about 2,600,000 BAM.

Boiko and Zaitsev were deprived of their freedom in Bihać during the execution of the criminal act, when they made an unauthorized withdrawal of money in the amount of about 100,000 BAM from the ATM of the aforementioned bank. The money was confiscated and returned to the owners.

“The cantonal prosecutor’s office of the Tuzla Canton, in cooperation with the Federal Police Administration and other police agencies, took over investigative actions for the entire FBiH area and conducted an investigation against a total of seven Ukrainians. However, given that the five Ukrainians are unavailable to judicial authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the prosecution of the five members of the organized crime group has been handed over to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and judicial institutions. The Supreme Court of the FBiH, after pronouncing the final verdict, extended the measure of detention for the convicts until they were sent to prison. They have been in custody since February 2020, and their stay in custody will be counted towards the time they serve the prison sentence,” the TK Prosecutor’s Office announced.
