semir-sutThe United States government donated equipment worth almost 63,000 BAM to the Ministry of the Interior of Zenica-Doboj Canton.

The equipment was donated under the ICITAP program, and it is intended for a mountaineering team of the Special Police Unit in order to help in rescue actions and tasks.

“The equipment that you have a chance to see was donated to our mountaineering team, but it also has a human dimension for jobs of rescuing victims and injured persons in abyss, pits and in all other situations where reaching the people, evidences and cases would be impossible without special equipment,” said police commissioner Semir Sut.

Mountaineering team recently completed training with members of the Federal Police, and according to Sut, with this equipment and the existing one, their ability and willingness will be maximally utilized.

Liam O’Flanagan, director of INL, stated that he hopes that the cooperation will be further continued in the future.

“We are hoping that this donation will help the police to provide assistance and rescue injured people. This donation is continuous cooperation and support of the Government of the United States and citizens of BiH. This is an exceptional cooperation and we sincerely hope that it will be continued in the future” said O’Flanagan.
