US Intelligence: Israel is far from ‘destroying Hamas’

According to US intelligence services, Israel has killed 20 to 30 percent of Hamas fighters in its attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, which is insufficient to achieve the goal of “destroying Hamas.”

The Wall Street Journal has published information obtained from US intelligence sources about Israel’s attacks on Gaza and the power of Hamas.

News reports said Hamas “has enough ammunition to attack Israel and Israeli forces for months” and is trying to re-establish police forces in parts of the Gaza Strip.

It noted that 20 to 30 percent of Hamas fighters have been killed in Gaza, where 25,000 Palestinians have been killed in attacks by Israeli forces lasting more than three months, and that the rate is “far from Israel’s goal of destroying Hamas.”

Israeli officials are reported to have “admitted that they could not achieve the goal of destroying Hamas despite an aggressive air and ground attack that has caused the deaths of thousands of civilians in Gaza.”

The news report said that “the war could last for months” and also included information that Hamas’s ability to survive had sparked discussions in Israel about “achieving the goals of the war”.
