US President sent a Congratulatory Message to Members of BiH Presidency

US President Donald Trump has sent a congratulatory message to the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of November 25, Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The congratulatory message is addressed to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, and states that Trump congratulates the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the anniversary of statehood.

“As you celebrate this momentous day, I urge your leaders to seize this opportunity to work together to find local solutions that have the support of all constituent peoples. This will advance stability in the country and allow us to deepen our partnership based on shared interests and mutual benefit,” Trump said.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Statehood Day on November 25 is celebrated only in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and tomorrow will be a non-working day in that entity.

On that day in 1943, at the first session of the National Anti-Fascist Council of the People’s Liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZAVNOBIH) in Mrkonjić Grad, the ZAVNOBIH Resolution was adopted, which politicians in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina consider the foundation of the statehood of the current Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Republika Srpska disputes November 25 as the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, believing that the current Bosnia and Herzegovina was established by the Dayton Peace Agreement, not by ZAVNOBIH, which the authorities of this entity have called a “communist legacy”.
