Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won today’s sprint race at the United States Grand Prix.
Verstappen’s victory in Austin also gave him eight more points in the overall standings. Mercedes driver George Russell was second, 0.886 seconds behind, and Williams’ Carlos Sainz was third, 1.932 seconds behind.
Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton, 2.528 seconds behind, and Charles Leclerc, 4.341 seconds behind, took fourth and fifth place.
Williams driver Alexander Albon, Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda, and Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli also scored points.
McLaren drivers Oscar Piastre and Lando Norris ended their sprint at the start when Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg hit Piastre, who then hit his teammate.
In the overall standings, Piastre leads with 336 points, followed by Norris with 314 points, and Verstappen is third with 281 points.
Qualifying for the US Grand Prix starts today at 11 p.m., with the start scheduled for Sunday at 9 p.m.
