In the second-instance verdict of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the case of Dragan Vikić and others, the appeal of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office was rejected as unfounded and confirmed the first-instance acquittal, Vikić’s defense attorney, lawyer Adna Dobojlić, confirmed for FENA.

By the first instance verdict – Dragan Vikić, Jusuf Pušina, Nermin Uzunović and Mladen Čovčić were acquitted of charges of war crimes against prisoners of war, in connection with the murder of eight members of the former Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) in Sarajevo’s Great Park on April 22, 1992.

Vikić, in his capacity as commander of the Police Detachment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RBiH, and Pušina, former assistant minister of the interior for uniformed police, were acquitted of the charge that they knew or could have known that their subordinates were preparing to commit murders and that they failed to punish the perpetrators.

At the same time, Uzunović and Čovčić, in their capacity as former members of the Police Reserve Unit, were acquitted of having participated in the murders of eight captured soldiers and the transportation of their bodies.

“The first-instance verdict was confirmed, and the appeal of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office was rejected as unfounded,” said Dobojlic.
