Vranic called on Citizens to get Vaccinated: Help us to continue with Normal Life

The Minister of Health of the Sarajevo Canton, Haris Vranic, pointed out the importance of vaccinations, the creation of personal immunity in the vaccinated, who call on the citizens to protect themselves and others by vaccinating.

“Help us to continue with a normal life, not to exhaust the medical staff, reduce mortality and postcovid complications,” said Minister Vranic, emphasizing the importance of adhering to all recommended epidemiological measures. It has been explained that one of the key characteristics of the virus is the protein of the Corona-19 virus, which allows it to attach to a host cell, trigger them into infection challenges, while vaccines target that spike and block the virus. In the unvaccinated, Vranic explained, the virus enters, “hijacks” the cell and turns into a factory for multiplying thousands of new viruses. It is involved in the mutation of the virus, if copying errors occur. As mutations accumulate over time, new variants of the viral strain appear. Minister Vranic claims that such a new variant, the Delta variant, has surpassed all rivals that reproduce faster and in greater numbers, which is why it is far more contagious than pleasant mutations.

Earlier, Vranic held a meeting with Sebija Izetbegovic, Director General of the Sarajevo University Clinical Center (KCUS), and Ismet Gavrankapetanovic, Director of the General Hospital “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakas”.

On this occasion, the hospital capacities in the mentionedinstitutions were analyzed, and the directors presented data on the number of available beds, equipment, and staff.

The needs for additional equipment and staff were also shown, which will be discussed at the next session of the CS Government in accordance with the planned financial resources.

Representatives – infectologists, from both of these institutions, have been chosen and they will lead the triage in the admission-triage center that will be formed in the Institute for the Protection of Student Health. Infectologists from KCUS and General Hospital will lead triage in this center for Covid patients who are sent for hospitalization from the Covid clinic of the Public Utility Health Center of CS.

“Minister Vranic also agreed with the representatives of hospital institutions to deliver the required number of vaccines, in order to organize the vaccination of the remaining health workers, because that would save the time they need to spend when it comes to caring for patients,” it was said in a statement by the Protocol and Public Relations Service of CS.

It was concluded that the health institutions of the KCUS and the General Hospital “Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakas”, together withall other health institutions in CS are ready for the fourth wave, and an appeal was sent to the citizens of CS to understand the seriousness of the situation and in accordance with it to respect all hygienic-epidemiological measures currently in force.

Earlier, a meeting was held with representatives of the Institute of Emergency Medicine and the Public Utility Health Center, where the situation in health care institutions was also analyzed, and an operational agreement was reached on coordination of primary health care with secondary and tertiary care for Covidpatients, Klix.ba writes.
