Vucic on Meeting with CIA Chief: I laugh when they say it was transparent in BiH but hidden in Serbia

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said yesterday in Belgrade that he had very useful and good talks with the head of the United States (U.S.) Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William Burns, and that he laughs at those who comment that the visit to Serbia was hidden while it was transparent in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

“We had very useful and good talks. I laugh at those who say it was transparent in BiH but hidden in Serbia,” Vucic said.

He stated that the decision was up to the guests.

“You talk to your guests, and then you see whether they want publicity or not. Usually, when you talk to the heads of agencies, you either do a ‘photo opportunity’ or nothing at all. There are no statements or anything like that,” Vucic said.

He added that the agreements with the U.S. officials determined exactly that – there would be “nothing.”

“As a serious country, we considered this the best possible way, and the U.S., as the most serious country in the world alongside China, considered this the best possible way to conduct the visit,” Vucic said.

On the other hand, regarding the topics of the conversation, the Serbian president said that they discussed the future of the country and the region.

“They presented their views, we presented our views. We had a very useful, decent, and I would say important meeting,” Vucic emphasized, adding that “this is all he can say on the matter.”

To recall, Burns had previously visited BiH. During his meetings with officials in Sarajevo, the CIA chief discussed topics of mutual interest.

This included the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH. They also discussed the separatist rhetoric of the President of the Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, and the RS government, Klix.ba writes.
