12443125_1131336376917317_2122386437_nSpring 2016 should be warmer than the average. The average temperatures in the period from March 1 until May 31 amount to 9.6 degrees in Sarajevo, 13.6 degrees in Mostar, 10.6 degrees In Bihać and 10.3 degrees in Tuzla.

This does not mean that there will be no colder period this spring. End of March and beginning of May will be somewhat colder, stated the climatologist in the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, Dženan Zulum.

Greater positive deviations compared to the climatologic normal are expected in April.

Precipitation will also exceed the average numbers for this period. Expected precipitation in Sarajevo is 226 liters per square meter, 380 for Mostar, 331 for Bihać and 228 for Tuzla.

There will be less rainfall in the first half of April and more rainfall in the middle of May.

First day of spring this year is March 20 and the vernal equinox should occur on that day at 5:30 a.m.

The spring usually begins on March 21, when the day and night last equally. This year is different because it is the leap year.

The Day of the Swallows was marked yesterday, prior to the beginning of the spring. Each year, the swallows return from the south to our region and inkling the season of nature awakening.
