Warning Strike Today in Schools in Canton Sarajevo

schoolIndependent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of Canton Sarajevo will hold a warning strike today because of the dissatisfaction with the economic and social status of employees in basic education in Sarajevo.

The half-hour protest will be held under the motto ‘We are the foundation of society, we want respect, and not humiliation’.

The reasons for organizing a warning strike are the discriminatory attitude of the cantonal government towards employees in education when it comes to the period of payment, months of delays of payments and other contributions, the amount of personal earnings and benefits that are not considered wages compared to other budget users, as well as public companies in this canton, announced the Union.

They cite the reason as poor school equipment, insufficient financial resources, provision of teaching material and lack of payment of contributions for differences in wages for 2012.

The warning strike will be held from 11:00 to 11:30 in all union branches-schools in Canton Sarajevo.
