What is the Future of the current Government at the State Level?

At the moment, when it comes to the government at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it can be described with the words “literally nothing is known”. And as things stand, we will not know, at least until the meeting of the Coalition of Three (Trojka), SNSD and HDZ BiH next week, which was announced by Dragan Čović, in order to see if there is room for further cooperation.

The political whirlwind is not the first of its kind at the level of government of Bosnia and Herzegovina in recent years, but it is certainly quite interesting. The leader of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, is trying to bring things back to their original state with the announced meeting at the end of next week.

“Let’s see if we can look at this time behind us in a correct way to see if there is room for further cooperation”, said Čović.

SNSD President Milorad Dodik is not aware of the meeting, but he will respond. He claims, however, that things with the Trojka are more than clear.

“I don’t know about that meeting, but if Čović invites me first of all, I will respect it. I have no ambition that anything can be achieved there, everything is clear there. The Trojka has started using its mechanism, then it is quite logical that we will use our mechanism,” Dodik said.

The Coalition of three parties state that all options are now possible.

“Everything is possible, and even the option for the SDA to form a coalition with Dodik is also possible,” said SDP MP in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Saša Magazinović.

“We will seriously continue with our principles and priorities. As far as I can see from the opposition in Republika Srpska, they agree with European laws,” said NIP MP in the BiH PA Mia Karamehić Abazović.

At the same time, the opposition from Republika Srpska is calling on Čović to step back from the theory of further cooperation with the SNSD.

“In this regard, I once again call on Čović not to be the last to reject Milorad Dodik’s policies. No party is ready to represent the SNSD in any form of government,” said Nenad Vuković, a PDP delegate to the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament.

The opposition in the Federation of BiH also agrees with his position that it is necessary to complete the procedure for replacing SNSD personnel in the House of Peoples and the Council of Ministers of BiH as soon as possible.

“As an opposition party, we are dissatisfied not only with the work of the ministers, but also with the entire Council of Ministers,” emphasizes Šerif Špago, an SDA MP in the BiH Parliament.

Analysts say that at the moment, apart from the self-confidence of the opposition in the Republika Srpska that it will enter government at the state level, nothing else can be foreseen.

The decisive decision will be up to the HDZ, and in recent days Dragan Čović’s position could be heard that partners, namely the SNSD, cannot be left in the lurch.
