Why the “Kartel” Raft in Belgrade sank?

The Belgrade raft “Kartel” sank on Saturday night, and preliminary data indicate that the raft began to sink due to a sudden uneven load, given that those present suddenly moved to one side of the raft when a fight broke out, Serbian media reports.

According to unofficial information, the owners of the surrounding rafts and catering facilities, as well as eyewitnesses, said that all the people who were on the “Kartel” raft suddenly moved to one side of the raft when a fight broke out.

“The sudden uneven load, along with the high water level, caused the bridge to break and the raft to sink,” says the source.

According to the source, the raft then became like a boat, unstable.

One of the young men who was on the raft and who, like the others, was ejected from the raft by security, spoke about what happened on the raft.

“The party was supposed to last until 1:30 a.m. but several security guys got on the raft and took turns throwing people out, including me. I asked them to tell me the reason, but they just told me: ‘ Get out’. I got out calmly. Afterwards, I called my friends to tell them I was kicked out, but after about ten minutes a larger group of people started coming out and opposing the security. That’s when the fight started.”

The morning after, the raft had almost completely sunk, only a small part of the front part sticking out of the water. The only part of the raft that remained attached to the shore is the bridge, from which the raft separated when people began to leave en masse after a fight broke out in the facility during the concert of rapper Cunami, Radio Sarajevo writes.
