When will Croatian President pay a Visit to BiH?

The President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, is the first official that will pay an official visit to our country in 2018 and she will be staying in our country on January 17 and 18.

During a two-day visit, she should meet with members of the Presidency of BiH, but only after she discussed situation in BiH with Vladimir Putin during her recent visit to Russia, and after she refused collective guilt of Croatian people for crimes in BiH at the UN Security Council that was held in early December 2017, where she noted that Croatia was not guilty, but that it just defended itself.

Especially important are her statements in which she advocated the equality of the three constituent peoples and their focus on the Euro-Atlantic integrations as crucial to stability in BiH. This will most likely be one of the four main topics of meetings with BH officials in Sarajevo.

And finally, the issue of the Peljesac Bridge, which is still a current topic in relations between these two countries, should additionally spice up the visit of the President of Croatia to Sarajevo.

However, this visit at the beginning of 2018 may have multiple effects on the improvement of situation in BiH, but also on the improvement of relations between BiH and Croatia, in case that President Grabar Kitarovic decides to use this opportunity to calm down tensions after the verdict to war criminals from “Herceg Bosna”. Moreover, one of her steps during the conversations should be to invite Croats to remain in their homeland, BiH, with the promise that Croatia will be a good neighbour but will not interfere in internal affairs.
