Will there be an increase in the price of electricity?

World Consumer Day, users of Elektroprivreda BiH welcome in ignorance – will there be an increase in the price of electricity? This public company did not clearly specify when and how much the price of electricity could rise.

However, the successful business plan of Elektroprivreda BiH foresees price changes for the next 3 years. On what basis, it is not yet concretely known, but judging by the record losses of Elektroprivreda BiH from the previous year, the debts must be returned, but to the detriment of the citizens.

The standard of living is getting worse, wages are the same, and expenses are obviously never higher. Elektroprivreda BiH says that it must establish a positive business, and as they further state in the Business Plan, the only prerequisite for this is an increase in the price of electricity. Losses from the previous year exceeded even 140 million marks, which according to all indications will be returned by the citizens. The specific price and the date of the price increase have not been specified, but there is an assumption that there could be a 10 percent price increase from June 1. Even today, Elektroprivreda is not specific.

SANEL BULJUBAŠIĆ, c. d. director of EPBiH

We still haven’t made a final decision, but the price increase was misinterpreted, taken out of the context of the Plan. We are considering a model of block tariffs, so to speak, something similar to the one in the RS.

VEDRAN LAKIĆ, Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry FBiH

Absolutely incorrect information, interpreted in the media that one way or another the price of electricity will rise. It is simply about energy saving methods for the next period.

As they further clarified, citizens who consume up to 300 kilowatts of electricity. energy should not lead to an increase in the price of electricity. But the Positive Business Plan is designed in such a way that it foresees a price increase for users who are supplied within the framework of the public service, including households.

These are the majority of customers on low voltage, that is, mostly public supply, that is, households that are primarily on the EP BiH, so they did not choose special and other traders that exist.

NIHAD HARBAŠ, expert in the field of energy

Elektroprivreda BiH said that the final decision on price changes is within the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. However, FERK explains that they have not yet received a request from the EP to change the price of electricity.

On the other hand, the Government of Republika Srpska has a clear position. There will be no increase in the price of electricity this year. But there will be no refunds to citizens, no lawsuits, due to disputed tariff blocks, BHRT writes.
