Will there be an Introduction of new Measures after Increase in Number of Coronavirus Cases in BiH?

The Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Republika Srpska, Alen Seranic, believes that there will be no need to introduce restrictive measures against the spread of the corona virus, considering that, as he stated, every citizen already knows what is needed to protect against this virus.

Selam told RTRS that the increase in the number of infected people is expected since there are numerous events during the summer that allow the spread of the virus, but it is a relief that the current subvariant omicron strain does not cause severe clinical symptoms.

He pointed out that the vaccine is the most important preventive measure and that there are enough doses in the  Republika Srpska.

Seranic said that there are no registered cases of monkeypox in Republika Srpska, adding that surveillance has been increased and recommendations have been made to health centers.

He explained that the incubation of the virus lasts from six to 16 days, and that the symptoms are like a general infectious syndrome – headache, swollen lymph nodes, weakness, while only on the third to fifth day do smallpox appear, which are clearly visible.

Speaking about the Draft Law on Mandatory Health Insurance, Seranic stated that this act provides for the payment of 100 percent of the salary to those suffering from malignant diseases, but also to pregnant women who have to protect their pregnancy.

“I will launch an initiative so that the parents of children suffering from malignant diseases have 100 percent of their salary in case of sick leave,” said Seranic.

He added that this law also provides for the stay of parents in a health facility where the child is treated in indicated cases based on the assessment of the competent doctor.

“We see no reason not to provide this kind of health service to children who need the presence of their parents, which can be of significant help for the child’s recovery,” Seranic pointed out.

He added that the issue of procurement of medicines for the treatment of children suffering from rare diseases has also been systematically resolved.
