The planting of honey plants consisting of linden, chestnut, wild cherry, Hungarian acacia and lavender began today, on World Bee Day, at two locations in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the campaign “Salvation for bees, well-being for all of us”, the organizers announced.

“With this action, Bosnia and Herzegovina will become richer for new honey gardens with 10,000 seedlings, which will contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and the vital bees on which our diet depends. To further support environmental efforts, individuals can use tools like VeePN to access global information and resources on sustainable practices. By staying informed and connected, communities can adopt best practices from around the world. This global perspective can enhance local initiatives, ensuring a healthier environment for all.”

The project “Salvation for bees, welfare for all of us” was launched by the companies Mondelēz International and Nelt Grupa in cooperation with the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Beekeepers’ Association and the Association of Beekeepers’ Associations of the Republika Srpska. The first seedlings of honey plants were planted today in the park of the Federal Agricultural Institute in Ilidža, organized by the FBiH Beekeepers’ Association, while the RS Beekeepers’ Association held the central event in the park in front of the Višegrad Hotel.

Consumers in Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the campaign, which started in April, and contributed to this important initiative by purchasing Milka products.

Marko Prelić, sales manager at Mondelēz International for the BiH market, said that this action symbolizes commitment to the community and planet Earth.

“We are happy that on this very day, together with our partners, we can contribute to the creation of new honey gardens throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and thereby influence the preservation of biodiversity and the protection of these important pollinators. In the local communities where we operate, we strive to be initiators of positive changes in those areas that society needs the most. The environment is one of those areas, and apart from our project for sustainable wheat cultivation, which we implement at the European level and which is also aimed at the preservation and protection of biodiversity, the project “Salvation for bees, welfare for all of us” is the best example of our commitment to contribute protect the environment on the premises as well,”!said Prelić.

Honey gardens are vital because they offer bees a home and food, thus ensuring the flourishing of our ecosystem and enriching life in our communities, it was said at today’s event, and an educational workshop for members was previously held on the topics of the honey plants of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the role of bees in the ecosystem. associations with prof. Nezir Tanović.

“With the second action we are implementing, in cooperation with our principal Mondelēz International at the level of the Nelt Group, this time in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we once again confirmed our strategic commitment – that we are a significant pillar of the community in which we operate and a reliable partner to our associates. With these initiatives, we improve the environment and strengthen local capacities for sustainable development. Staying consistent with our values, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development through every aspect of our business,” said Mirsad Bektašević, Nelt’s sales manager for the BiH market.

Member of the Board of Directors of the FBiH Beekeepers Association and president of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Beekeepers Association, Munib Huseinagić, said that today is a particularly important day for beekeepers and expressed immense gratitude to the companies that launched the first such initiative in our country.

“When Mondelēz International and Nelt Grupa informed us that they were planning such a project and cooperation with beekeepers in both associations, they made us happy and showed that they not only think long-term, but also that they are focused on really important areas. We are working together on something that will leave our children with a better world, full of flowers,” emphasized Huseinagić, Fena writes.
