Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has named Turkey, Austria and Switzerland as possible venues for a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We believe it is fair, and the Europeans have emphasized this, that the meeting should be held in neutral Europe. Because there is a war in Ukraine and on the European continent. I said we agree. Switzerland, Austria – we agree,” Zelensky said during a conversation with reporters on Wednesday, according to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

Zelensky also spoke of Turkey as a potential venue for the talks, noting that it is a NATO country and “part of Europe.”

He went on to say that the meeting “without any special conditions is also a proactive action of the Ukrainian side,” also ruling out Moscow as a possible venue, and saying that Budapest has “less and less chances” due to Hungary’s stance.
