Preparations for the 7th international athletic meeting “Zenica 2016”, which is held on June 1 at the athletic stadium of the Sports-recreational Center Kamberovića polje, are nearing completion. Around 150 competitors from 20 countries will participate in this year’s meeting, including ten athletes who will perform at the Olympic Games. Majority of the participants are coming to confirm their sports shape prior to Olympic Games in Brazil.
On the list of shot put for men, competitors with Olympic norms are Ivanov from Bulgaria, Žunić from Croatia, Elemba from Congo, and BiH Olympians Alić and Pezer. Similar situation is with female athletes on 1.500 meters, where the current form will be shown by Amela Terzić from Serbia, Bobochea from Romania, Chepchoech, Selah and Wangari from Kenya.
Several famous names with extraordinary results will also perform at the meeting, including Amel Tuka, Kipkorir from Kenya and Temba from South Africa on 800 meters, Vakanov from Bulgaria on 110 meters, Italian sprinter on 100 meters Bompeng, Mayo and Ro from Kenya with Ribić from Serbia on 3.000 meters.
Competitors in javelin throw are Magour from Egypt, Slavov from Bulgaria, Samac from Serbia and Dejan Mileusnić, who will try to reach the Olympic norm. fight for prestige among the disc throwers will be led between the Hungarian Savany, Varga from Croatia and Montenegrin Furtula, and among the female competitors are Tomašević from Serbia and Rakočević from Montenegro.
In addition to them, numerous other athletes from abroad and from BiH will perform. They will try to achieve remarkable results or reach norms for great competitions. Total reward fund of the Zenica athletic meeting is 10.200 EUR, and favorites for the overall winner are Amel Tka, Georgi Ivanov, Slavov, Porter (USA), Terzić, Basad (Egypt) and Kipkorir.
Organizers of the international athletic meeting “Zenica 2016”, which begins at 3 p.m., expect a large crowd, although the entire meeting will be directly broadcasted on BHTV.
