“Race for the Cure” was held in BiH for the 10th time, and hundreds of people celebrated life yesterday in Sarajevo.

The goal of the race, or walk, is to empower the health of women in the fight against breast cancer. This race is taking place in more than 150 cities around the world, and several million people run or walk to improve the health of women every year.

After a slight warm-up, a children’s race at 300 meters was held at 11 AM, then men’s race at 500 meters at 11:15 AM, a race on 3,5 kilometers for recreationalists on the path Ars Aevi Bridge – Elektroprivreda – Ars Aevi bridge at 11:30, while a walk for cure was held at 12 PM, which gathered 90 % of participants.

Almedina Alic from the Association “She is the Light (Ona je svjetlost)”from Kakanj noted the need for regular examinations, considering the fact that illness can be cured if it is diagnosed in time. She had her first operation 20 years ago and the other one 7 years ago, but she managed to fight the disease because it was diagnosed on time.

Last year, a total of 1,040 mammograms were secured from the funds collected in this race, and yesterday, 50 women received a mammographic examination on a mobile mammographic device, which was set up at Wilson’s Promenade.
