meatIn the previous days, numerous media reported on the imported rotten meat from Brazil and its presence on the European market. The Veterinary Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina conducted a brief investigation regarding this case.

Yesterday morning, it was reported that they had not received notification from the Organization for rapid alert system for food and that they have no other information that rotten meat is present on the BH market.

“According to the information received, the border veterinary inspectors carry out control of all shipments on imports in BiH”, is announced from the Veterinary Office.

According to the media, great Brazilian exporters were selling tainted beef and poultry with forged inspection certificates.

Brazil is the leading exporter of beef and chicken in the world and has customers in 150 countries. Currently, many exporters are faced with the police claims that the meat producers for years bribed sanitary inspectors to approve the sale of rancid meat.

At least 30 people are arrested, and the police is searching over ten meat processing plants.
