In the organization of the “Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation“, 11th anniversary of the reconstruction of the Old Bridge was marked in Mostar last night. The ceremony was attended by members of the B&H Presidency and numerous other high officials and citizens of Mostar.
A ceremonial part of the program started with walk of the B&H Presidency over the bridge followed by drums, after which a jump to the river Neretva was performed in a honor of the B&H Presidency, as the general sponsor of the 449th traditional jumps from the Old bridge.
The ceremony was continued in the restaurant “Labirint“ with showing a documentary movie “Old Bridge-monument of peace“. In the continuation of the evening, members of the B&H Presidency were awarded by the highest recognition of the “Center for Peace“ – international Peace award “Mostar Peace Connection“. In addition to members of the B&H Presidency, award was posthumously awarded to the former president of the Republic of Turkey, Suleyman Demirel and the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, as people who contributed to the reconstruction and construction of the Old Bridge.
In the name of the late Prime Minister of Croatia, Ivica Racan, award ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in B&H, Ivan Del Vechio, and the award was taken by Racan’s wife, Dijana Plestina.
In the name of the late president of the Republic of Turkey, award was taken by the Embassy of this country in B&H, i.e. Turkish consul in Mostar.
