old bridge gradacacDuring the reconstruction of the Alija Izetbegovic square in Gradacac, contractors discovered the bridge from the 18th century and found the entrance to the city fortress as well.

Enes Sahacic, an architect, said that in cooperation with the Institute for the Protection and Usage of Cultural and Historical and Natural Heritage of Tuzla Canton, several ways of protecting and presenting these historic buildings were discussed.

“These findings, along with Hussein captain Gradascevic and Hadddeendendi turbe (headstone), will be part of the newly built square. General part of the excavated bridge will be adequately restored and protected by a glass plate, and the foundations of the former tower, will be marked on the square’s plateau, “Sahacic said.

The total value of the project is approximately 700,000 BAM, and the completion of the works is planned for the end of August, ie the beginning of September this year.
